I had my eyes checked out by Dr Heeney, and I was super happy with the quality of service throughout the entire process, from quick online schedule of an appointment, to answering any questions I had.
I was pleasantly surprised by the comprehensive pre-test checkup. I was tested for various types of colour blindness, depth perception, and some other quick tests. It seems simple, but such level of attention is superb to all the shady get-your-eyes-checked-while-you-are-buying-glasses tests I've had done before.
Protip: ones eyes can be inspected in even more detail when dilated, but dilation makes eyes more sensitive to light for a while, so this is optional. See if you can schedule an appointment in a way where you don't have to drive yourself home after.
