Short term car lease (6-10 mths)

Rosalynn and I need a short term car lease. Something 6-10 months long would be perfect. Ideally we'd like something fuel efficient, like a Prius or a small car but we're pretty open minded. If you know any good leasing companies that do this kind of thing, or if you want to get out of a lease, please let me know!

Thanks for your help!

You could always try an alternative like Autoshare. It is an excellent service that saves you money and the environment (because you only use it when you need it). Plus they have Prius, Yaris, Fits, BMWs, Mini Coopers, etc... so you can switch it up.

Sid and I picked up a lease in the spring.
1. Look at leasebusters of other sites like it.
2. Contact dealers who provide cars you like (if you want a prius, contact a bunch of Toyota dealers--when people want to give up a lease early, they always call their dealership)
3. If you can wait until January and don't mind a small SUV (not too bad on fuel and excellent for our travel schedule and home renos) I'd happily let you take ours over. It expires in July 2009.

2) see other people that are looking to unload their leases. i used it a few months ago while looking for a yaris. although i didn't end up buying (no longer needed a car), I thought the site was great. what i found were cars that are gas guzzlers were at pretty good prices. for example, someone has an escalade..they'll say if you take over my lease, i'll give you $2000. not surprisingly, for fuel efficient cars, no one was offering incentive to take it off their hands.

I agree with LeaseBusters, there is a lot of credit approvals required though. Some rental agencies ( particularly the small independents ) will offer a long term lease.

Pema - I've used leasebusters four times. You'll find something that fits your needs for sure, just check daily for listings as the good deals go fast.
The site itself is just a listing service (great and easy business!). You contact the listed seller direct and you'll be working through the dealership to do the transfer.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
1. The effective payment they list is faulty. Take the lease price including tax, minus any incentive, divide by what's left on the lease. That's what you pay.
2. Beware of the transfer fee! There's a few to transfer the lease, usually about $500. Seller usually pays unless its such a great deal that the seller asks the buyer to pay.

Pretty simple. Good luck and email me if you want to learn more.

Almog's brother is moving to Cali and might be wanting to pass on his car lease to someone else. I think he has a Ford Focus. I'll pass your email to his wife Erin.

Funny, you spoke with Moran? It is a small world! Sooo, Erin got back to me. Unfortunately, it's not a short-term lease, the lease goes until September 2010. That's probably too long a lease takeover for you. But here some details I have on the car just in case you are interested:

The car is a 2006 Fusion
the monthly payment is $381
insurance for them is approximately $135/month

The car is under warranty for 5 years, so the lease runs out before the warranty does...it covers lots, but not everything...for example, they just paid $650 for new brakes...the good news is, the brakes are under warranty, so if you have to get them done again, it would cost around $250....at some point the front brakes need to get done, so that'll be an expense....

You have to get regular oil changes, etc....(they are free, but once a year cost about $50 for extras...at the dealer which is in North York

Let me know if you're still interested and I'll give you Erin's email
